For the last years St-Petersburg has been getting the status of the sports capital of Russia. The city at the river Neva has organized many world and European championships. The Olympic Games'80 group football tournament matches as well as III Goodwill Games took place here. April of 2000 was the time of the World Ice Hockey Championship held in this city.

The sports events had been televised from the St-Petersburg sports venues all over the world. A deserved place in the range of sports events being held in the city is taken by the "Cup of Peter the Great" tournament.

The Tournament organization was the matter of a great number of complimentary letters received from Russian, European and world sports community. It is no coincidence the St-Petersburg Taekwon-do Federation
with the "Tornado" society were honored with the right to host the World Taekwon-Do Championships'97. In spite of only a few years of Taekwon-Do existing in our city it has become one of the most popular sports at least among the other martial arts. At present over 20 clubs and sections are functioning in the city. Hundreds of boys and girls leaded by experienced instructors are practicing daily. The Taekwon-do ITF department is open at the St-Petersburg State Physical Culture Academy, that shows the growing interest in Taekwon-Do in our city.
The "Cup of Peter the Great "is traditionally being held at the best Sports &Concert center of St-Petersburg named "Peterburgsky". Its arena is a place of most prestigious sports events of the city. Over 12 000 spectators can be seated at the sports center stands. Spacious and comfortable foyer are ideal for exhibitions, sale and advertising campaigns.
